Full Disclosure On My Online Earnings
Now that my online earnings have surpassed $7,000 for two months in a row, putting me one rung higher on that very tall “make money online” ladder, I’m getting more emails, comments and even other bloggers blogging about exactly how and where my earnings come from. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you already know all the answers to these questions because the answers are scattered throughout the blog – but if you’re new or just dont feel like taking the time to search all over for them, I’m going to post all the answers here, in one place – and I’m sure I’ll be referring back to this post often.
How much does Randy Brown earn online?
For most of 2007, earnings averaged about $5,500/month. October and November 2007 were both over $7,000
How many websites does Randy Brown own?
I own two websites and two blogs:
- GrownUpGeek.com – my ‘baby’. This website earns 99.99998% of all my online income
- One other website – A work in progress and I don’t even want to post the URL. It’s been on the back-burner for over a year because I devote most of my time to Grownupgeek.com. This ‘other’ website earns less than $50/month, all from Adsense
- This blog – As you can see there is no advertising in this blog, and therefore it earns $0.. Unlike many other “big” bloggers, I don’t blog to make money from you – I blog to help you and give you ideas based on my experience
- One “other” blog – I have another blog related to the “other” website.. It has no advertising, and I don’t think i’ve made a post on it in over 6 months
How much does Randy Brown spend in advertising to earn so much?
I posted my total monthly expenditures for the first time in my November Earnings Report, and that is pretty much how it’s been for the last year – for those that did not read my November earnings, I spend $0 in advertising the website. About a year ago I dabbled with Adwords and wasted a few hundred dollars, but have not done any advertising since then.
HOW does Randy Brown earn so much? 1,000,000 visitors per day, right?
Wrong.. My website averages about 10,000 unique visitors and 35,000 page-views per day. The website has Adsense and Kontera on every page, but they are only displayed to non-members. Adsense and Kontera account for roughly 65% of the income of the website. Premium content subscriptions account for roughly 30% (although it is increasing every month), and affiliate sales account for the rest.. These numbers are very ‘rough’, but you get the idea.
You’re close to breaking the $100,000/year barrier – are you going to quit your job?
I’ve been planning on quitting my job for the last year, but I just haven’t had the guts to do it yet. Because I’m still new to this whole online money-making game, I’m still a bit hesitant to walk away from the 10-years I have invested with my current employer. Also, because of a serious illness in the family, things like health insurance are very important to me right now. In the meantime, that extra monthly income is kinda nice.
What are Randy’s secrets for earning so much without advertising?
Keep reading the blog, and just as in the past, all of my secrets, experiences, experiments and failures will be posted. Since premium subscriptions are the largest growing segment of my income, I think I’ll focus on that in my next few posts.
…any other questions? Post ‘em !

Cool site! Found you through blogrush, I look forward to getting more of your nuggets through the RSS. Never heard of Kontera, I’ll check it out.
Thanks for the juicy stuff!
How funny, you are reluctant to quit your job with $7000/month and I just quit mine with $200 made in my first online month!
Have faith!

I guess you’ve got quite a bit more ‘brass’ than I do! But i’ve got a lot on the line to worry about, like a house payment, a child that needs new shoes and (probably) braces, and a sick wife that really needs that insurance coverage right now..
i have faith.. i’m just not crazy
I didn’t even know you’re the owner of grownupgeek even when your domain shows it. STUPID ME!

Hi Randy, thanks for dropping by my humble domain… I read your About page and it’s quite interesting. Why, what happened to your wife, if you don’t mind telling? I hope she gets better.
