Tim Allard convinced me to finally setup a Twitter account.  I guess i’ve been putting it off because I assume it’s only a matter of time before the spammers take over and turn Twitter into a worthless spamfest like Myspace has become.

If you’re a Twitter user feel free to follow my Tweets (or whatever you call them).. If I get enough followers I guess I might actually tweet something worth twittering..

Beware O’ The Jeffrey Lant Scam

There are lots of ways to make money online. Building a quality user-content based site like GrownUpGeek.com, SEM marking, or running a network of blogs and sites like Jim Karter. The one thing that all of these ways of earning money online have in common is that they all require hard work, time, and effort.

Jeffry LantSadly though, anytime there is money to be made online or in the real-world, you will find scammers and ripoff artists trying to prey on people’s dreams (and greed). My friend Gary Conn ran into one such person, who’s name happens to be Jeffrey Lant. I won’t go into the whole story, because Garry spells it out in his blog better than I ever could.

For all of you that might be new to trying to make money in the online world, take this advice:

  • There is no fast, easy way to make money online
  • You can learn virtually everything you need to know by reading the right blogs, a few FREE ebooks, and reading webmaster forums like Digital Point and Webmaster World
  • Anyone that promises to make you quick or easy money for a fee is lying to you
  • There is no substitute for good old-fashioned hard work and patience

If you haven’t already, go read about what Garry calls the “Jeffrey Lant Scam” in his blog – and if you hate scammers that try to take advantage of those that are the most vulnerable as much as I do, make a post in your blog about Garry’s run-in with Mr. Lant.

LinkieWinkie is dead-and nobody cares

I got bored watching reruns of Three’s Company, so I decided to check the Alexa traffic stats on Linkie Winkie. I figured the monthly traffic stats would be thru the roof, but to my amazement, I found that daily traffic to LinkieWinke has dropped off to almost nothing!

I guess the social experiment has failed. Everyone finally realized that Linkie Winkie can’t do anything for them and so they’ve moved on to the next fad.. Whatever that is..

LinkieWinkie.com: The website about nothing

A few weeks ago we mentioned LinkeWinkie and what it was – or wasn’t.

Well, we’ve given Linkie Winkie a little more thought, and I think we kinda have an idea. I think it can be summed-up as the Internet version of the Seinfeld show – Linkie Winkie is The Website About Nothing.

Don’t get us wrong, calling LinkieWinke.com a website about nothing is not a bad thing. Heck, the Seinfeld show was one of, if not the best, highest rated, most successful TV shows in history, so to call LinkeWinke.com THE Website About Nothing is actually quite a compliment.

So what is Linkie Winkie?
We don’t know, and don’t pretend to know what the guys (or gals?) at Linkie Winkie are all about. But here is what we think we’ve learned about Linkie Winkie by doing endless hours of web-research on Google:

  • Linkie Winkie is vain – it loves to be talked about
  • Linkie Winkie is simple – no frills (the website about nothing, remember?!)
  • Linkie Winkie is popular – Well yeah – everybody is trying to figure out what it is!
  • Linkie Winkie is mysterious – I think that’s part of the allure
  • LinkieWinkie is addictive – Once you start trying to figure it out, it’s like internet-crack. You can’t get enough, and before you know it your teeth are falling out and you have that Internet crack-whore hair-cut
  • Linkie Winkie is nosy – It crawls the web looking to see who’s talking about it
  • Linkie Winkie is the subject of our dreams and our nightmares – (ok, I ran out of things to write, so I made up that one)

If you found your way to this website trying to figure out what LinkeWinkie is all about, then you know that Linkie Winkie is addictive, alluring, seductive, and.. about nothing.
