SearchFeature.Com Interview
Last month I was interviewed by SearchFeature.com. Search Feature has done several interviews in the last few months with the likes of Barry Swartz, Seth Godin, Rank Fishkin and even Mr. Search Engine himself, Danny Sullivan. So for me, to be on the same page as these guys is quite an honor.
The interview is a quick read and since they are an SEO site, most of the questions are SEO related and focus on how I was able to learn my SEO techniques and become as relatively successful has we have become in such a short time.
You can read the full interview here: SearchFeature.com Interview with Randy Brown.

Joel Comm Talks About Kontera
In this video recorded at BlogWorld last month, Joel Comm talks about monetizing your blog or website with Kontera in addition to Adsense.
When watching the video, take note of the websites that are used as examples (*cough* grownupgeek.com *cough*)
Randy Brown Wins The Prestigious Blog of The Week Award
GoldPoster.net has presented our blog with their second “Blog of The Week Award”. No doubt due to our unique content, lack of posts about things like wrestling matches on TV or “no sex allowed on the new A380 airplane”, and the total lack of distracting advertisements all over the blog.
Yep.. it must be the fact that I try to keep the blog focused on nothing other than “how I make money on the internet“, “how I make money with my website“, or “how I did” other various things related to the site - otherwise I’m sure they would have chosen some other blog jam-packed with ads and regurgitated news or copied & pasted articles. Of course all the bragging I do about monthly earnings or website membership probably helped also.
Thanks GoldPoster.net when will you be sending the cash prize award? Can you PayPal it to me? ![]()
10,000 Members And Still Growing
I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time, and watching the member-odometer slowly go up since noon. Finally, tonight at 8:14PM we did it, we broke the 10,000 member barrier. It’s been a slow road, but compared to many other community sites 10,000 members in only a year and a half is extraordinary. Out of these 10,000 members approx 1 out of 10, or just over 1,500 are also currently PAID members - meaning they either donated $25 or more, or subscribed for $5.99, and then $1.99 more each month.
Here are screenshots of the big moment:

How I Did It:
I think the biggest reason we’ve been so popular and able to gain so many members is because we fill a niche - we offer a place for newcomers to come and feel comfortable. We maintain a family-like atmosphere where members help each other with very little flaming or drama, zero spam, and no advertisements (after they join). I guess you’d say, we’re not your average website - and perhaps this is the key.For more info on how I built the site, have a look at my free eBook.
Note that because I use the Drupal Inactive User module to delete inactive accounts, all 10,000 of these members are actually active or at least semi-active members. If it weren’t for deleting accounts inactive for over 90 days, we’d have almost 20,000 members..
